In the afternoon visit attractions farther afield - drive to Cavendish the home of Anne of Green Gables. If time permits, visit Fort Amherst-Port-La-Joye National Historic Site, located near Charlottetown Harbour and Victoria-by-the-sea, a storybook historic fishing village that has been revitalized by the many artisans who now call it home. This area offers a wide scope of activities including, kayaking, crafts, shopping and live theatre – all within walking distance. This morning we suggest you take a “Taste of the Town” walking tour. If you're a Foodie and history buff, you'll love this culinary walking tour. A leisurely three hour stroll through historic downtown Charlottetown sampling some of the Island's most unique foods and beverages along the way....and meeting some of the people who produce or prepare them. You'll learn how food and food production has been central to the development of the Prince Edward Island economy and your taste buds will be tantalized at each stop along the way. This afternoon why not take a short drive to Prim Point and learn the secrets of finding the best clams. Clam digging has been an Island tradition since the days when only the M'ik M'aq lived here. Depart Charlottetown and drive north through Green Gables Shore. Be sure to visit the many sites that pay tribute to everyone’s favourite red-haired heroine and her creator, Lucy Maud Montgomery. Continue to Cavendish - the home of Anne of Green Gables to visit Avonlea - the village of Anne of Green Gables and the Green Gables L.M. Montgomery’s Cavendish National Historic Site. Continue along the spectacular Prince Edward Island National Park before continuing to Dalvay Bay. Overnight Dalvay Bay.

 

Today you can continue along the Green Gables Shore to visit Anne of Green Gables Museum in Park Corner. En route stop at Indian River and view the dramatic church of St. Mary and continue on to Kensington and visit the old stone railway station – a National Historic Site. Continue on to Summerside. Rich in heritage, the stately homes gracing the downtown residential core were once home to many a wealthy shipbuilder. Visit Spinnakers' Landing, an attractive waterfront area with a lively boardwalk providing visitors the opportunity to shop and dine beside the ocean. Continue back to Dalvay Bay. Depart Dalvay Bay and explore the northern portion of the Points East Coastal Drive. Continue to St. Peter’s Bay, a good stopping point for shopping, dining, theatre and music, and just a short distance away visit the spectacular dune system at Greenwich National Park, visit East Point Lighthouse and climb to the top, play on the beaches and have the sand at Basin Head actually “sing to you”. Continue your drive to Spry Point - with fields rolling down to the sea, red cliffs and white sandy beaches setting the tone for outdoor activities such as birding and beach walks, and there are several kilometers of hiking trails surrounding Spry Point. Or, for those more inclined to sit and relax on your balcony with a glass of wine and some good company, the view will be your draw. This locations is set at the tip of a peninsula with over 9000 feet of beautiful shore frontage, virtually surrounded by privacy and water that you can only dream about. Overnight Spry Point.

 

Today at leisure to enjoy your surroundings. Relax and enjoy your surroundings or do a little more touring of the eastern coastline. You can take a tour of the Rossignol Estate Winery in Little Sands or drive alongside the Murray River and why not make a stop at one of the many provincial parks en route. Continue on to Montague - a pretty town built on the beautiful banks of the Montague River. Maybe visit the historic town of Georgetown. Continue back to Spry Point. Overnight Spry Point.
